Well, I wrote a complaint about it on their facebook profile adding print screens of the rankings before the game, the points awarded for the game and rankings after the game. Players I played against had the same points total before and after even though they got some points. Some players have the same points total for many games and then they suddenly skyrocket to the total you cannot reach, thus you can't win anything significant in the tournaments. And guess what happened they blocked me on the facebook page insgtead of addressing the issue.

I know what you mean about players scores staying the same even if they score during a round and I figured it must be a bot too.But I have been in a party where I've known another player so used s'pop chat to see if they were actually playing at the same time but they werent, they'd played earlier- and we were both in the same timezone. So I'm starting to wonder whether we play against bots more than we realise cos have you noticed you never have to wait to join in on a party and start playing straight away and also, how come every player seems to answer each round at the very same time- rarely do you wait for your opponent's guess, even for a microsecond, after you've answered? We not stoopid :) Block thiiis!! Hahaha

Well, i've always enjoyed music and this game is fun,but like everything is all about money. However they dont even cover their tracks properly and that is irritating.

When you play a normal SongPop game you are playing in your time a round that is sent off and then waits for opponent to play their part in their time.  The opponent is majority of time a real person unless their profile shows location New York, compatibility 86%.and they have same playlists and high scores as you.  If that's the case then they are a "Bot" or roBot generated by the system.  My understanding is they are a necessary part of the mechanics of the game.

When you play in party mode, you play an avatar that represents a real person whether they be online or offline.  You are the only real person live in the party game, all the other 4 players are avatars representing their players.  If that player is currently playing in the party in their own game against possibly your avatar, the score they earn will be added to the leaderboard.  If they are not playing for real and just their avatar is playing then that score is not added to leaderboard.  All opponents in the party game are computer generated avatars or bots representing mostly real players.  They are supposed to be programmed to play like you do, with your skill and expertise.  Purpose of this is so parties can be instantly played against opponents when you want it to happen.  Otherwise you would have to sit there and wait for 4 other players to fill up your game and then each guess everyone would have to wait for the slowest to answer.

PS:  I'm a player just like you but I took the "red pill" a few years ago.  Perhaps you should read back through the many discussions about this topic in the past.

Thanks so much for enlightening me. Whilst I have no plans to trawl through previous discussions to get to the bottom of it, i have many qu's now answered thanks to you sharing your extensive knowledge of how the system works. Dont get me wrong,no pill required(like👍) as I'm not bent outta shape over it, I enjoy the game overall.oh, and New York/ 86% / same song likes...yep,that was my first opponent alright.

Everyone has a 'bot' amongst their normal opponents.  Some people choose to game over (delete) theirs.  I use mine to send all the crappy playlists that any of my other opponents would hate.  They are also supposed to play like you do so you can judge how well you are playing by whether you beat them or not.  I'm not sure if they have a skill limit but in practise I find mine is only about 80% as good and rarely ever beats me.  If I do lose to it I know I'm not playing well.

Update:  Recently my Bot has sent me games where it score 23,800 so I had no hope of beating that.  Seems the higher you score also pushes the Bots score up to.

You make some great points about having(retaining) a bot opponent. Unfortunately, i deleted mine over 2 yrs ago so, unless i have another i dont know about(doubtful)i guess i've thrown away that opportunity to use it as a gauge of my current playing ability. You are spot on, about the 80% average win though- i thought they just won occasionally to seem more authentic as a player.Again, thanks for sharing your knowledge- it causes me to look at the game from a different angle and that's always a plus. Cheers to that.

What a pile of bull. Do you actually want me to believe that a 'player' who only plays 8 playlists with 50's 60's 70's music can be #2 in the rankings at a 80-2010 hits party with over 100k points?
the last party I played I had the same situation with some old lady having almost 200K points, but when I played her she were losing 8-1. Are you a person who believes that reality shows on tv are not scripted or are you a songpop employee?
I know when I'm good, and I know when sth is not right. Plenty of players in the parties with high scores of 24000 exactly, not possible to have such score for so many people. Be fair songpop.

Yeah thats totally unfair alright.I can accept the bot players, but its rubbish when the odds are stacked against players so they either cant win or have to make purchases to match ridiculous scores not even knowing if winning is even possible. Bots dont have to sleep either so there's another unfair advantage when playing party mode.Speaking of unfair...thanks Songpop for no longer offering 1 yr VIP and instead only offering monthly which over a year is 25 bux more!! Not gonna happen so if i'm back to limitations n adds i will be playing a whole lot less. Bad bad very bad move,so not happy at all, thanks for nothing Songpop no loyalty offered no loyalty given pffft!

Hi Michal, I assume you are referring to me in your last response?  I assure you I have no connection with the people who run the game (SongPop or Fresh Planet).  I did state as much below my post as I am a player only.  I have been playing for many years now and already gone thru a lot of the highs. lows and frustrations of playing SongPop.  Along the way learning to accept I can't change the rules but realizing if I understand how it works better I can avoid a lot of the downside to it.  If you look back through history on this discussion forum you will find I have at times been hugely critical of the game and its makers.  I don't have VIP, have never spent a cent on the game and probably wont but I love playing it, just gotta know when to play or not to play.

Michal, you are ignoring the possibility that this old lady simply played longer than you did. If she played for 5 hours (and I've seen people playing for longer, sometimes two people running "shifts" and playing one account while their partner is resting) and during those 5 hours got an average score of 500 pts per round, she would've reached ~150K points, and if you play for only one hour, getting 1500 pts per round (as you are better than her), you will still not reach her because your total should come to ~90K points (my calculations are based on an average of 1 minute per round).

Another option is that you *think* you are better than her, but you can't really know that because her "avatar" (as Gary put it) isn't really doing a good job at representing her true skills (it happens, usually because people are improving while they play and/or start using powerups only at a later stage of the contest). So when you play a round you get a better score than what her avatar is getting, and when she is playing her round (and again, you don't really play each other directly, you each play alone with four more avatars representing your opponents), she gets a better score than you. This is why sometimes when you watch the progress of players in the leaderboard, you will see more than one player constantly getting a high score that means he/she got the 1000 point bonus for winning the round.

    Dear Kermit11,

do you actually think that I have not covered all my bases? I actually challenger 'her' for one on one and she took it and she was losing 1-10, so no she wasn't better. Another 'old lady' that had a 100k score in a tournament, supposedly living in the US, won twice against me 3 times when I challenged her to a Polish rock playlist. Like you want me to believe that a 60yo woman living in USA can record faster times in Polish music than a guy from Poland three times in a row (playing that playlist for the first time ever)?LOL

I know that some players can be better, some might spend a lot of money on the game and play it for hours, but I also know that we are cheated by the makers of the game. And the sad thing is that I can't do anything about it. Well, I can, stop playing, which I did.

All I'm saying is that she doesn't have to be better than you, she can play longer (this is the first option I suggested). I know I have beaten players which were far better than me simply because I forced myself to play for 3 hours in a row until they got tired and quit. I also won some badges in parties I know nothing about (like Latin music, Country, or World music which included playlists in Korean and Swedish), so this is definitely doable.

Still, I guess you are right about one thing. If you're losing in a game where you feel you don't have a fair chance to win as others, you did the right thing by quitting. Hope you found something you like more :)
