You have to find a playlist that contains that song.  Then play it, and play it again, and play it again, and play it again.  It took over 30 tries to finally get 'Stand by Me' the other day.  Then the following day, I got it a half dozen times in 3 different playlists.  It's all random so the only way to complete it is to just keep playing, just keep playing, just keep playing...

Also, be careful when you are playing.  Take your time.  If the song comes up and you accidentally click something else, it won't count, you have to correctly guess the song in question.

BTW, after over 40 tries, I got 'Oh Yeah' in the Retro 80's playlist

SongPop really  needs to more clearly and specifically word their missions.  The better way of stating it would be that you need to SUCCESSFULLY/CORRECTLY guess a song, not just guess it and get it wrong and still get the reward.

Once I realized that "SUCCESSFULLY/CORRECTLY guess" was the key, I slowed my roll as Jason43 recommends, and opted to let myself potentially lose the match to my opponent by not playing as fast as I normally do, when it was more important for me to guess correctly.

Also Jason43, with regards to what you were saying about "Stand By Me", Ben E. King's song of the day, usually that song will come up for me a gazillion times per day because I only ever play classic songs playlists, but on that day when that song/artist was the song of the day, it literally took me hours out of the day before it finally ever came up and I actually was able to correctly guess it and earn the reward.

Catherine Kelly, my best recommendation to you is to do what I do when I begin playing each day, now that Missions are a part of SongPop.  The first thing I do is open up the Missions window to view what the song of the day is and/or who the artist of the day's song is.  Next I Google search the release date for that song.  E.g. if a song was released March, 1975, then you can try to narrow down playlists that, for example are from the spring of 1975, or choose decades-wise for a 1970s playlist.  It still might take you a long time to get a chance at the song/artist, but this will definitely improve your odds by getting you to use your search/playing time more efficiently.  I did that with "Oh Yeah" by yello, and it worked beautifully because I limited my games that day to only the decade for that song until I had hit that song and earned the reward.  Hope this helps you!
