Interesting Obervation in Tournaments
Has anyone else noticed during tournaments when it starts the lists are varied, usually about 5 or 6 sometimes more in a tournament.. Then I have found (and even wasted 100 tickets testing it) that the closer you close on the lead, the playlists dwindle right down and constantly throws in the ones you're doing worst in? Every 5 or 6 it will give you a different one, but i have noticed that they throw in you're worst performed 3 on continuous rotation.
Yes Songpop I am onto your cunning and devious ways!

When you first start in a party you are matched against lower level players but as you move up the leader-board you get harder opponents. Also you are playing a bot that runs on a computer algorithm programmed by the "Architect"...lol Who knows what they told it to do! Well, from my experience (I've been playing more than 100 tickets per party, and have been doing so for many parties so far) - this is not exactly correct. The first part is true - you start up by playing each of the playlists in the current party once. I believe this is to give you a brief showcase of what the party is about. After you finish the first round of playlists, everything gets random. And I do believe it's completely random - so you might get different playlists or you might get the same ones again and again. The only exception for this is that you can't get the same playlist twice in a row.
Cheers :)

HI Kermit,
Sorry my friend but I completely disagree with you on that.
I too have wasted many tickets testing this theory and everytime, without fail when I make a late charge for the badge, the app consistently repeats my worst performed three or four lists in the entire rotation. And especially in the Top Hits tournament, which is rubbish because it always ends up constantly rotating the 90's and 2000's lists. The 70's and 80's lists would be lucky to be seen every 10 or 12 rotations.
And if it happens to be a tournament where I know all lists because I own them, then I get the bot/cheats cheating me out of it by magically jumping ahead 3k or answering questions way too quickly... I mean seriously? It does take time for both your eyes and ears to register before you click, and I don't know but some ppl I challenge in head to head do this also, it's just virtually impossible to register in a split second, unless the answer is directly under your finger at the time. These same people also seem to know exactly what position the next answer will be placed in, I've watched ppl (and again, I've tested this theory of mine) and they manage to jump directly to the next answer in a split second, even when the answer is at the top, after the previous answer was at the bottom. Hmmm this app just keeps exposing its bullshit pitfalls.

I often keep a record of the playlists and what I score when I'm cruising in party mode. No time to do it when your under pressure though. They do rotate fairly random however I tend to agree they've tweaked the algorithm recently.
What I suspect is there's a secret boost package being offered only to some people. I did a 30-40k battle other day with well known top opponent who managed to overtake and pull clear of me on the leader-board. All well and good except how can this happen when I'm beating her bot in the rounds 9 out of every 10. I don't suspect cheating but like I said I think people are getting advantages that the rest of us are not told about.
Magpira I assume you are talking normal 1 on 1 matches when your saying how quick opponents are guessing. Like in party you can't tell how quick or what the opponents are guessing. I can tell you as a 50+yo trying to pick answer quicker than a younger person is almost impossible. I get challenged by 20yo's that just blitz me, but I vet them first before accepting and only play the ones who are not very accurate as that's my strength. I have tried just guessing as quick as I can without even listening and had 0.1s time if you get it right.
In the normal game the answers often follow a pattern. More games you play after a while the patterns become clear however familiarity with this will only give you an edge, not a 100% guarantee. eg if the 2,3&4th answer is on same box go diagonally opposite for 5th. I often use these patterns when opponents send me list I don't know. Now you have to understand that these patterns could also be coincidence of a totally random system. But definitely noticed them.

Guys,
I think both of you are either secretly working for Songpop or your both trying to score points in their good books!
How on earth can you identify a 'pattern' of answer placement on a list which you have barely played? I'm not talking about say a random 80's list which has the same tracks spread among them, yeah sure, even I have blitzed 80's lists that I've never done before... I'm talking about blitzing lists of say for example, I send someone the Slipknot list ok? The person has not bought any metal lists and has never done the Slipknot list before yet manages to blitz it?
Come on now.. Be real and admit that it's virtually impossible to blitz lists you've never done before.
There are people floating about on here that do have some kind of cheat system as I've previously stated, you cannot blitz lists you never played before on the first go, knowing placement order is a system glich, has to be or Songpop should be taken to court for having secret boost packages made available to certain player.
That is illegal and way below the belt, they are taking people's money for a fixed system, they should be held accountable if that is the truth.

Magpira the only contact I have ever had with Kermit is in this public forum. I started in this forum being skeptical like you, however I believe I have always kept an open mind and tried to show a little respect for the people who have been at this game longer than me. Kermit has previously given me a public undertaking in this forum that he is not connected to SongPop management or its parent company FreshPlanet. I also have no connection with them and I'm quite sure they would rather I wasn't here after some of the things I've posted about the mechanics of the game. Kermit and I are both players just like you.
You ask "How on earth can you identify a 'pattern' of answer placement on a list which you have barely played?". I think you haven't understood what I was trying to explain, perhaps I wasn't clear. It really has nothing to do with what music is playing, they could be showing pictures of zoo animals instead of playing music snips. I'm talking purely about the pattern of which box has the correct answer, over the course of a single game of 5 turns. If you keep playing long enough it will eventually click and you will notice them. They don't happen all the time, when they do you won't realise until perhaps after 3rd guess, 4th guess will confirm, so you use pattern to pick 5th guess. This is one of many defence tactics against playlists you don't know that well.
As for blitzing lists I think I've already detailed my opinion on that.

Gary,
I appreciate your reply, but why you keep playing the 'Newbie' card with me, I don't get...
The issues I have with this app have nothing to do with other people, or how long anybody has been playing Songpop. Why do you keep making references to my 'newbie' status against you 'experienced' players? I actually took that as a dig at me in the first ever response you made to my first ever post in here, and same with Kermit in his first response to me, he basically insinuated that I was pissed off because the badge hoggers have more badges/stars than I do, which was absolutely not the case whatsoever.
So before you and Kermie call me out on my being rude to 'experienced' players, or typing in a certain 'tone', perhaps the both of you should heed your own advice yeah?
I am not here to make friends as I have previously stated, this board is a forum for general discussion about Songpop isn't it? Well exactly, I am here exercising my right, as a paying Songpop customer, to express my opinion, which I have done and will continue to do, so if you don't like what i'm saying then either don't read it or don't respond to it... Simple!
-
Well you say "so if you don't like what i'm saying then either don't read it or don't respond to it."
So you expect to criticize me by name in your post and me not respond. Your nuts!
Basically had enough, tried to help you but I think you've got more serious issues than playing songpop.
-
Ummm ok then....
I never said DON'T RESPOND TO MY POSTS Gary, If you read it, I said IF YOU DON'T LIKE MY VIEWS THEN DON'T READ IT OR RESPOND. You can respond to me all you please, I am jot fussed, I'm happy to have the banter flow with you in here.
How did I pubically and by name criticize you? What? By calling you out on how you manage to squeeze the fact that I'm a newbie and I should have more respect for the veterens of this game? That's no more criticism than you gave to me right off the bat when you straight away made reference to the fact that I've only been here a few months. Please tell me the difference?
And you end your post by saying "Your nuts?" and assuming I have "serious issues?" LOL. Is that not a criticism? You hypocrite! Oh and one last thing, just cus I can.... it's YOU'RE nuts, not YOUR nuts!!
Ciao x

Oops sorry one final point to yet again highlight how much of a hypocrite you are...
You said... "Basically had enough, tried to help you"
Tried to help me how? In my very first post My Beef With Songpop, you responded by highlighting the fact that I'm only new here etc... That's about all the help you've given me. If you re read my initial post, I asked about how the star system worked and something else (can't recall) and you never helped me by explaining the solution to those issues which I actually did need help with at the time.
I have worked everything out that I need to on my own through trial and error, so I don't need anymore help thanks.

Yes, Songpop's playlist dynamics during tournaments can be quite intriguing. It seems they have a strategy that shifts playlists based on performance metrics, which can sometimes feel like they're intentionally challenging your weaker areas. It's a common observation among players who closely track their performance over multiple tournaments.
Regarding your experience with playlists dwindling down to your worst-performed songs, it's frustrating but also interesting to note how game algorithms adjust over time. This phenomenon of playlist management might be more complex than we think.
If you're interested in exploring more about strategic game designs and algorithms, you might find this article on Örviri insightful: Örviri. It delves into mysterious and strategic concepts, much like what you're experiencing in Songpop tournaments.
