No time limit you just get one badge after 100th place.  If you want to win 1st you need to do it in under an hour and within a few hours to get top 50 usually.  I've had badges for coming like 3,000th

Thank you. It’s the rereleases that confuse me as I’ve had saved playlists that have changed from a solid icon to a hollow one and so I thought they can reset the race at anytime.

Carole if you have a list you want to play with a holllow cup on it, you must reset it to get the badge for mastering it.  If you don't reset it the mastery you score will be wasted until you do reset.  Resetting loses the mastery you already have on a list.  When the list has a solid cup means you already qualify for the mastery reward.  No cup means there's no mastery reward for that list yet.  When others are sending me same list thats new or re-released I often check the cup status even if I don't own it so mastery gained isn't wasted.  I was finding sometimes I got 4 note mastery before I reset but then the traffic stopped on it so better to reset early if you're getting spammed with a list.

Excellent advice. Thank you Gary. Another question, do you play parties? I did at first but can’t really see the point. Unless I’m missing something?

Carole yes I play parties but nowhere near what I used to before the mastery badges started. Parties used to be the only way to win the badges. I find doing it thru mastery is a lot less stressful if you don't mind it taking longer. You won't get some badges thru mastery though and need to play the party to win them. You can also win tickets and powerups plus other special prizes in some parties. The tickets are really only used to play more parties but the powerups can be used in normal game to reduce choices.
