Portuguese Music(EU) / Música portuguesa
Hello everyone.
I believe that portuguese music deserves to have (at least) a playlist on songpop.
Here are a couple of reasons so, and artists you could feature on the playlist:
We have a very special kind of music called 'Fado', which appeared around the early 19th century. Also, on 27 November 2011, Fado was inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. It is a symbol of our country and known worlwide. Some remarkable names of the genre would be Amália, Mariza, Carlos do Carmo, Camané, Madredeus, Carminho, etc.
We also have a pretty well established rock culture and also some nice acoustic bands and artists, with names such as 'Xutos e Pontapés', 'Ornatos Violeta', 'Rádio Macau', 'UHF', 'Clã', 'Heróis do Mar', 'GNR', 'António Variações', 'Rui Veloso','José Cid' and many others.
There are also a couple of artists which had strong political messages behind their songs such as 'José Afonso', 'Jorge Palma' and 'Segio Godinho'.
In the 2000's a lot of bands of pop-rock/folk-rock/acoustic rock also became popular like 'The Gift', 'Amor Electro', 'Deolinda', 'Diabo na Cruz', 'Toranja', 'os Azeitonas', 'Legendary Tiger Man', 'Dead Combo', 'Terrakota'...
And we have 'Moonspell', a famous gothic metal band.
We also have a lot of high-quality Indie bands and artists such as 'Capitao Fausto', 'Linda Martini', 'Samuel Úria', 'sensible soccers', 'David Fonseca', 'B fachada', 'PAUS', 'peixe: avião'...
Last but not least, we also have some quality eletronic, hip hop and reggae artists such as 'Expensive Soul', 'Da Weasel', 'Buraka Som Sistema', 'Valete', ' Sam the Kid', 'Boss AC', 'Mind da Gap', and 'Richie Campbell'.
I hope that you like my suggestion.
Looking forward to see a Portuguese Music Playlist (since there are playlists from other countries too). :)
