Thanks to the developers for their effort to keep SongPop both fun and musically relevant. I love to play it, but its one biggest issue is that despite it getting its own separate genre in the game, the punk/hardcore playlists are extremely outdated and at best decade plus out of relevancy. The only options available are "classic" hardcore punk bands that are 30-50 years old, or very dated selections from subgenres like post-hardcore/emo/pop punk etc.
But given at this point post-hardcore is not as popular with young people as it was 10 years ago and hardcore itself has been having a big revival, it makes the game feel very outdated to neglect this genre of music. If it's important to keep the game relevant, it's important to keep up with genres that younger people actually listen to, and most of the "newer" punk music on the app is from the myspace era, at best.
Please consider making a playlist that is just "Hardcore", with bands like Turnstile, Knocked Loose, Incendiary, Trapped Under Ice, Bane, Gulch, Ceremony, Terror, Have Heart, etc.
All of these would be considered very well-known and "intro to the genre" modern hardcore. And most of those existing playlists have bands that are on the same labels that SongPop was able to include, so there is really no logical reason why they have not been included. It's been 10 years at this point for people asking here for this, please add it to the game. If you want the game to maintain relevancy, please consider filling some of the large gaps of genres people search for on the app that have been neglected for years and years instead of only focusing on the same absolutely identical decade/best of playlists. Thank you.
